A warm, welcoming community of everyday Australians learning about Bitcoin together. No jargon. No pressure. Just honest conversations over pizza and a cold drink.
Who we are
Bitcoin Bendigo is a small, friendly group of locals who meet monthly to learn, share and discuss Bitcoin. We're not traders, not influencers and definitely not here to sell you anything.
Monthly Meetups
Informal, friendly and low-key. Think of it like a neighbourhood gathering where the topic happens to be Bitcoin. Our meetups are adult-focused evening events — partners, mates and adult kids are always welcome.
We always have pizza delivered. Grab a beer, coffee or water and settle in. No dress code, no sign-in sheet and no awkward icebreakers. Come straight from work.
Each session includes a short presentation covering Bitcoin fundamentals — what it is, how it works and why it matters. Perfect for newcomers every single time.
The second half is an open discussion about what's happening in Bitcoin and the broader financial world. Ask anything — there are no silly questions here.

Community Kitty
Attending is always free. But if you'd like to support the group and experience Bitcoin's Lightning Network in action, we pass the hat — digitally.
At each meetup, anyone who wants to contribute sends a small donation in sats via the Lightning Network. Most people kick in around $10 worth. It's completely optional — but it's one of the best ways to experience just how fast, easy and cheap a Bitcoin transaction can be.
The community balance is transparent and reported at every meeting. We're building a shared resource pool for Bitcoin-related tools the whole community can borrow and use.
Send sats in seconds, for almost zero cost, from anywhere in the world. No bank. No delay. No middleman. That's Bitcoin on Lightning.
⚡ Lightning Address
Community balance reported openly at every meetup.
New to Bitcoin?
Bitcoin can feel overwhelming at first. Here are honest answers to the questions everyone asks when starting out. Bring your questions — no matter how basic. We've heard them all and love answering them.
Bitcoin is a form of digital money that no government or bank controls. It runs on a global network of computers and has a fixed supply — only 21 million will ever exist. Think of it as the internet version of gold.
Yes on both counts. Bitcoin is completely legal in Australia. Like any investment it carries risk, which is exactly why education matters. We focus on understanding before anything else.
Not at all. Bitcoin can be split into 100 million tiny units called satoshis or "sats." You can start with just a few dollars worth. You don't need to be wealthy to participate.
Absolutely. Our group includes people of all ages and backgrounds — from complete beginners to those who've followed Bitcoin for years. Everyone starts somewhere and nobody gets left behind.
No. Bitcoin Bendigo is an educational community group, not a financial advice service or investment platform. We're here to learn together, nothing more.
Absolutely — the more the merrier! Our meetups are adult evening events (think after-work drinks, not a family day out), so bring a partner, a friend or an adult son or daughter who's curious about Bitcoin.
Our discussions focus exclusively on Bitcoin. We don't discuss altcoins, "crypto" projects or anything outside of Bitcoin. This isn't rudeness — it's focus. We believe Bitcoin is in a category of its own and our meetups reflect that. If you're curious about why, come along and ask us!
Before your first meetup
To get the most out of your first session, we encourage new members to complete two simple things beforehand:
Head to lookingglasseducation.com and register for free. The "B is for Bitcoin" course takes around 4–8 hours and will give you a solid foundation before walking in the door. Make a note of any questions that come up — they're gold for the group discussion.
We recommend Wallet of Satoshi or Alby — both are free and beginner-friendly. Most group payments and donations happen over Lightning, so having a wallet ready means you can participate from your very first night.
Member Projects
Bitcoin Bendigo members are builders. Here's what's being created right now — tools and ideas born from our meetup conversations.
Ever wondered what would have happened if you'd saved in Bitcoin instead of dollars? TrackStacks is a simple, visual tool that shows the compounding difference — perfect for beginners, students and anyone curious about Bitcoin as a savings vehicle.

Get in touch →Bendigo's Bitcoin Economy
We're building a circular Bitcoin economy in regional Victoria, one local business at a time.
Elliott Bros Bendigo — one of the region's most trusted suppliers of power equipment and motorcycles — has become the first business in Bendigo to officially accept Bitcoin as payment.
Customers can purchase mowers, chainsaws, generators, pressure washers, motorcycles and more using Bitcoin, settled via the Lightning Network for fast low-fee transactions or on-chain for secure long-term recordkeeping.
"I'm still fairly new to the Bitcoin space, but I believe it has an exciting future ahead for our business. We're looking forward to supporting customers who want to spend Bitcoin." — Dave Tuddenham, Manager, Elliott Bros BendigoVisit elliottbros.com.au →
